Gramex has signed a reciprocity agreement with the Federation of Korean Music Performers (FKMP). In the future, Gramex will collect remunerations to Finnish musicians and artists for the use of their music in South Korea. In return, Gramex will pay and collect remunerations for musicians represented by FKMP for the use of the music in Finland.

“We are constantly working to expand our network of contracts. K-pop is very popular in Finland and it’s great that we were able to sign a contract with FKMP,” says Tuomas Talonpoika, Gramex Director.

K-pop is the main export of the South Korean music industry and has gained popularity worldwide. Korean major labels have expanded internationally in recent years and Korean artists are increasingly collaborating with international artists. K-pop’s popularity is reflected in playlists and streaming platforms around the world.

“I hope that in the future Finnish recorded music will also find its way into South Korean radios and the ears of Korean listeners,” hopes Talonpoika.

Gramex currently collects remunerations from more than 30 countries around the world. In recent years, the number of claims collected internationally has increased thanks to active development work.
