The gender distribution in the Finnish music industry is still changing very slowly. The proportion of women among music creators, performers and producers only grows in small increments from year to year. However, the distributions paid to women are increasing more than the proportion of women. Although the differences are still large, both Teosto’s and Gramex’s statistics show that women’s visibility and earnings in the Finnish music industry are increasing.

The artist Vahtera, who is currently working on her third album, believes that the joy of making music stays alive when you are surrounded by good people.

The nominees for the 2026 Teosto Prize were announced on Tuesday, 10 February 2026 at Musiikin Satama in Espoo. Seven Finnish compositions are in the running for the award, selected from domestic works that were published or premiered during the previous year.

The 2026 Grammy Awards highlighted Finnish music creators on several fronts. Six Finnish music makers were nominated, and producer Jonas W. Karlsson went on to win an award.

Finland’s largest and most prestigious annual music industry awards, the Emma Gala, will take place this year at Espoo Metro Arena on Saturday, 7 March. IndieCo ry, recognised the most successful achievements of 2025 at the Indie Awards 2026. The awards were presented at an invitation-only event held at Tiivistämö in Helsinki on Thursday evening, 5 February 2026.
