Gramex made fourth annual payment

In December, Gramex paid out 4.3 million EUR in the fourth distribution of the year, in which around 8 000 Finnish music performers and producers received remunerations. This year was the first year in which Gramex made four distributions for all main use types such as public performance and broadcasting.

This winter distribution included mainly remunerations from radio and television use (7-9/2023), background music (7-9/2023) and remunerations from abroad.

This year, Gramex made payments four times. Thanks to the tighter payment schedule, the majority of the use of phonograms was remunerated within the same calendar year, meaning that the remunerations were paid more quickly and accurate than before.

Other records were also set: this year, Gramex used first time music monitoring technology in distribution. Monitoring technology was used to target remunerations recieved from background music use in the restaurant environment. Background music accounts for about a third of Gramex’s remunerations.
