What are EAN and UPC codes?
The EAN code is a product identifier, typically consisting of 13 digits, that is used in Europe and many other parts of the world to uniquely identify a product. Not all phonograms (including digital releases) have an EAN code, which is why it is not a mandatory field in the phonogram report. However, if an EAN code exists, it is recommended that you provide it, as this facilitates automatic identification.
The UPC code serves the same purpose as the EAN code but is used primarily in the United States and Canada.
